Square: our story
1979, Square is born! In the beginning, Square was principally involved in the technical aspects of packaging artwork creation (known as the graphic chain process, upstream of the print process).
2001, Launch of our desktop publishing (DTP) studio and further development of our graphic expertise and services. Square becomes an agency capable of accompanying its clients from design to print.
2003, Square becomes the guardian of our clients’ digital assets by offering digital asset management (DAM) services (Square Assets)
2010, Square goes digital with the release of the iPad and produces an online version of ‘M Le Magazine ’ for Le Monde newspaper
2015, Square professionalizes its offer with an artwork management system for total graphic chain management for Blédina and l’Oréal, called Square Flow.
2016, Square develops integrated solutions for e-commerce, facilitating smooth exchange of customer product data with e-commerce platforms (eg Alkemics, Equadis...) and GS1 data pools.
2017, Square improves the Square Flow artwork management system with integrated KPI reporting to allow agile steering of the graphic process, and continuous improvement.
2018, Square is the first French Ltd Company to obtain the ISO 20400 Sustainable Procurement accreditation
2018, In addition to 3D packshots, we offer innovative images for e-commerce that are optimised for viewing on small mobile screens: Hero Images (= Mobile Ready Hero Images (MRHI)). We work with Materne and Heineken, among others.
2019, Square innovates with a shared network solution for total print quality control: Square Color. Less need for onsite press attendance, Quantified print quality and colour consistency, KPI analysis and printer benchmarking, Control print quality anytime, anywhere
2021, Square becomes a partner of Grip. This platform allows us to automate 3D packshot creation and instant CGI rendering directly from the 2D packaging artwork.
